Pizza Takeaway -No – not an invention of the late 20thcentury, fast food didn’t start with the yellow arches, it goes back much further than you’d perhaps think The Romans were great fans of fast food, takeaways and pizza. Space in Roman times was at a premium. Roman homes were often built without kitchens. Dining in was a pass time for the seriously rich. Ordinary bods dined on the move for most of the time. They dined on a menu that was surprisingly similar to our own, bread, cheese and sausage based foods were the top favourites all washed down with copious amounts of red wine – even for breakfast!
