Space in Roman times was at a premium. Roman homes were often built without kitchens. Dining in was a pass time for the seriously rich. Ordinary bods dined on the move for most of the time. They dined on a menu that was surprisingly similar to our own, bread, cheese and sausage based foods were the top favourites all washed down with copious amounts of red wine – even for breakfast!
